California Dreamin'

Well, Asher and I are headed back up to the great northwest.

Our trip to kick off our track season was close to great.

Asher ran very well in the 5k. She PR'd with a 16:43, and looks to keep raising the mark as she learns how to race that distance more this year. I, on the other hand, did not have a great race. I technically PR'ed but only because I have not seriously ran the race before. My time was probably 8-10 seconds slower than I should have run... so that was disappointing. All that being said, if I had set the track on fire instead of a sluggish performance I would still move forward in the same way and keep training and keep racing. So I am back to work on Monday and then down to Eugene on Friday and Saturday to double the 1500/800m.

Seeing Mark, my college roommate and one of the groomsmen from our wedding, was as awesome as ever. Mark recently moved to LA so we were able to stay at his place and he squired us about town when we weren't at the track. We got a couple of good runs in, and had an awesome time down at the beach Saturday night.

While seeing Mark is always amazing and I was so happy to see Asher start chopping her PR down in the 5k, the best part of the trip was without a doubt the sweet, sweet glorious HEAT.

The sunburn on my shoulders confirms that I am very deprived of the rays that spring brings. I am pretty sure after 10 minutes in the direct sun I was already burnt. Burn or no burn I still love the touch of glow that LA gave us. I am hoping that Washington is ready to catch up with the times and ready to bring some heat.

I hope everyone is well and I hope everyone has a blessed Holy Week.

Asher will post soon and she has a few pics from the weekend. I'll also try to edit together some of her race video.

Take care

Spring is Close

Well everybody the sun has been in out for back-to-back days!

SPRING IS ON ITS WAY

Things are good here in Washington, busy as ever. Little bit of school, lots of running and even more work.

Asher and I spoke the other day and decided that we are gonna work hard to visit the midwest this Christmas, so that is something to look forward too. We will have to see how long I can get off of work, as well as our circumstances around that time as far as what Ash has going.

As far as running goes, here is some footage from out track workout(s) Saturday. It was an exciting day to say the least... For the first time our coach gave us 2 pretty intense track sessions in the same day. This is unusual as we normally only do two-three in a week. It was a beautiful day, a bit windy, but much better than the usual rain... so we will take it.

Work was particularly intense this week. We have a company commander change of command coming up so, as part of that, we have to inventory everything on the property book that the current commander has signed for (about 35 million dollars worth of goods). Well, long story short, during this whole process a soldier decided to snag something and put it in his little pocket. The aftermath was that the item of course came up missing, and the entire company did a 100% shakedown. Which meant we all stayed onsite and awake until it turned up. I slept about 75 minutes that night, it wasn't to much fun.

Live and learn... next time the process will be much slower and much more controlled.

Well, its time for me to eat one of Asher's delicious meals and get after another week.

Miss everybody and hope you all are well.

Aloha....Some pics.... Mahalo.

Hey guys... Since we had so much trouble with the video, I thought I would add some pictures of the trip  I took to visit my aunt in Hawaii the week before. Hope you enjoy!
Side note: We will still try to upload some stuff from the Olympics trip. We'll keep you updated!

On a hike with Aunt Patty!

The hike took us by the WWII pill boxes that were used to defend the island during the war. Now they are just graffitied by the thousands of people that hike to the spot every year.

This was a shot from the very first of the hike. Already getting amazing views.

Its hard to tell but the trail wraps around for about four miles until we finally made it down at the far peak in the distance.

When we made it to the descending trail we were able to see the most beautiful sunset.

Hope everyone is having a great week! Miss you!
